About the 2009
vintage |
|
This year had a relatively normal weather pattern,
without excessive heat or rain flooding. Zsuzsanna Vineyard is steep
with south exposure, implying that a normal year with moderate heat with
some frequent light rain is the best.
Consequently the sugar stayed on reasonable level until the grapes were
obtaining a mellow ripeness. The acidity were on a healthy and preferred
level for the Riesling but as usual a bit low for the Pinot Gris.
The only concern was that the Riesling grapes in
the bun-ches were not totally equal ripe. But this shown afterwards to
be of no significance.
The harvest amount were very low, since the
vineyard are being modernized. The vine stocks are cut down from being
almost 2 meter high with a horizontal arm of 1 meter, down to a common
used height of 80 cm. Many of the cut vines did not bear fruit 2009, but
will be back in full production 2010 or 2011. |
